Both the Summer and Fall are now distant memories. We were waiting for a number of ‘next-move’ confirmations which are now etched in stone. We fly out of Colombia next week (12/15) only to return back to Colombia in four months not having begun our much coveted approved one-year furlough. “How did this happen” you ask? Two reasons. First, we are committed to travel to the USA for four months on account we have five confirmed teaching events we must now carry through… events we really would not want to miss anyway as they are all quite important in God’s Kingdom economy... events ranging from ‘Engaging Muslims’ and ‘Evangelism’ talks in California to teaching two ‘Perspectives on the World Christian Movement’ lessons in Texas in the emerging nationwide ‘Hispanic Perspectives’ network for which I am a licensed instructor. We will also do what we can to raise much-needed financial support throughout our travels, a reality that must change if we are to continue our work abroad (clic here for more info).
We must return to Colombia in April of next year where K. will teach a long-anticipated ‘Introduction to Islām’ course in the admired Seminario Bíblico de Colombia Fundación Universitaria located in beautiful Medellín, Colombia. Yes, back to our beloved Medellín for six weeks. We look forward to not only engaging students at the academic level on this important subject, but also challenging them at both spiritual and volitional levels as we anticipate special times of prayer for them. We will also practice prayer for the unengaged Muslim peoples of the world. We simply could not pass up this exceptional invitation, sensing before God the need therefore to suspend our upcoming furlough until later 2017. We know this will affect many of you anticipating a visit from us next year, but we sense urgency in this invitation in light of the ongoing global purposes of God
Furthermore, there have now emerged six tentative speaking engagements across the northern coast of Colombia that will more than likely take us from Medellín all the way to the most northern tip of Colombia, La Guajira, adding yet more time in terms of months in Colombia before we are able to embark on what will inevitably be a late 2017 furlough. We don’t see how we can do things any differently. We’re not completely sure when it will be that we actually make it to the USA to begin our heart's desire to deepen relationships, form new ministry partners and rest in the Lord through a furlough, but this is all in the Lord’s hands for now. We welcome prayer and words of encouragement for us in our next steps.
