Max Lucado once wrote, "Our prayers may be awkward; our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the One who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference." We concur. Jesus said, "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you" John 15:7 (our family verse for 2017). May we all pray more, and pray more earnestly. Here are a few petitions and thanksgiving from the Greenside...
1) Give thanks to God for a great first quarter 2017. God's Word was preached in both welcome and hostile places, there were many teaching opportunities for sharing God's heart and Kingdom purposes, there were excellent evangelistic opportunities with more than a few making decisions to follow Jesus as Lord, and God has granted us traveling mercies across the south and on into the midwest. We are thankful.
2) We ask for wisdom and discernment regarding major decisions that must be made soon in the near future regarding our vision and call of God. We continue in God's call to the end, but as stated elsewhere [click here] we hope to 'tweak' things on into the future to His Glory.
3) Praise the Lord with us for His provision during these last three months regarding our transportation and housing needs as we have traveled around the States. One Name for God is Yahweh-jireh (the God who provides, יְהוָה יִרְאֶה) and we have seen Him provide abundantly. Our principal sending church leased a new vehicle for us which has been nothing less than a continual blessing of dependability and safety for us. We are also very thankful for the usage of a loaned RV that has become home away from home for us. God is good and always faithful.
4) Pray for our son JJ as we pray he might flourish spiritually, physically and emotionally in his Stateside settling. It has not been easy for him in the USA for many reasons, chief of which has been the cross-cultural factor of having moved from one country to another at his ripe young age. Ask God to do a special work in JJ that leads to a deepening relationship with His Lord and Savior Jesus.
5) We have surprisingly received some additional much-needed financial support for our ministry, but we are asking and trusting God for a few more solid financial donors wishing to commit to us as monthly ministry partners on into the future. At present we're still approximately $1,000.oo below what is needed to make our monthly salary. We hope to share with many more during our furlough toward this end.
6) Finally, we entreat you to ask God on our behalf for some significant new developments for our ministry in Colombia. As we head back there are a number of noteworthy opportunities and challenges facing us that will require caution, wisdom and discernment. We believe God is doing something quite unique in light of all these new developments and we will be excited to share them with you as things firm up and 'crystallize' on into the future. Stay tuned.

Jesus said,
“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites.
For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners,
that they may be seen by others.
Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.
But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door
and pray to your Father who is in secret.
And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do,
for they think that they will be heard for their many words.
Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
Pray then like this:
"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.”
Matthew 6:5-13, ESV
