Where do we start in our look behind? We start with thanksgiving to God for having enabled us to connect to a warm fellowship in Palestine, TX, and one where our son J.J. feels at home. This wonderful community has taken us all in, opened the floodgates of love on us and now integrated J.J. into their youth projections. At long last we have found the right place suited for him in his maturing years as a young man, a place where he can flourish and be himself outside the shadow of his parent’s wings. We could not be more thrilled at where he is, and where we see him headed, all praise to God Almighty! And yes, he’s lifeguarding as I write.
As for C. and me, well, it’s been a long year behind us full of many ups and downs. We are excited to tell you about all God is doing in our midst; suffice to say we hope to do so in person in the coming months as we head westward from Texas in our RV for the rest of the summer and fall, then southward into southern California for the Winter. We are still in our spiritual posture of ‘Rest and Trust’ as outlined in Isaiah 30:15a, and soon will be finishing up our “Come and See” chapter in keeping with the Johannine motif (John 1:39,46; 4:29; 11:34). This chapter has been one full of surprises in so many ways. Here are a few of the highlights:

This chapter has been one full of surprises in so many ways. Here are a few of the highlights:
- A brief recall to Colombia to not only complete a few ministry responsibilities, but also repair a fallen roof. Our home there is now rented to a lovely Colombian family
- An end-of-the year 2017 Caribbean cruise to celebrate my (KR’s) parent’s 60th anniversary, done with all the extended family aboard
- A birthday party to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday
- Training in Chicago for outreach to Muslims
- Being asked to represent the mission in Richmond, VA at Iniciativa 21, a first among Latinos in N. America for Frontiers
- Receiving the final sign-off on all Instructor and Coordinator training for Perspectives in el español (Perspectivas)
- Exploring seminaries and mission schools for future adjunct teaching in Latin America, five cities, four countries [presently I write from Buenos Aires (can you find it in the graphic above) where I am in the midst of exploring various contexts for future short-term adjunct teaching opportunities in our mobilization call for Muslim work… one was in Montevideo, Uruguay last week (can you find it above), one here in Buenos Aires, Argentina and one will be next week up in Asunción, Paraguay (also above). I then head to Bogotá and Medellín, Colombia to explore the last possibility in Medellín at the Fundación Universitaria Seminario Bíblico de Colombia].
