... Looking to Remember the Middle East

Our prayers of late have taken us once again to this part of the world. This is not the first time, nor will it likely be the last. This troubled region occupies our hearts afresh, not necessarily on account of the usual armed conflicts with stories of valor and sacrifice we've all come to expect, but rather this time, on account of huge sweeping transmigrations of peoples searching for escape from what may well be the greatest human crisis in modern history - millions of refugees and IDPs (Internally Displaced Peoples) searching for nothing more than peace and a simple life at the threat of being humiliated, abused and even eliminated.
Here at the GREENside we're constantly reminded of life... GREEN after all is only possible when there is life present as any two-year-old will tell you. Our focus at the GREENside is to do what we can to provide life to those in search of it... physical life, emotional life and spiritual life.
It was the Messiah Jesus who once said, "I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly" (John 10:10 NRSV). It is for this reason we launch a two-year initiative this summer from Colombia to this part of the world, offering ourselves, students and others as part of God's purposes in light of this growing human tragedy. We here at the GREENside believe only God showing His love through His Son, the Messiah Jesus will there be hope for these peoples - Jew, Muslim, Christian and other religious affiliations alike. Jesus is the ONLY One who truly personifies love offering solutions that last.
