Much has happened since our last news to you; suffice to say the big news right now is the publishing of this website that will hopefully help to keep all better informed. In addition to the 'current reflection' you may have already read there are a few other things we've been involved in lately. Take a look:
- The team we've been coordinating and preparing for cross-cultural work abroad was recently sub-divided into three teams and then commissioned to be sent early next year. There are serious financial challenges to be faced before these three teams actually get to their fields, but we're all trusting God for miracles and direction. You can read more on this here (email me for an authorization code).
- I'm (KG) in my fifth and final year of presidency of El Camino Academy, the school where JJ studies. Recently, all the Board members and I led the first annual Board/Staff retreat where both teacher and staff were all together (historically there have been two annual retreats... one for staff and one for teachers). I consider this the second most significant 'defining moment' of my presidency (the first being the dedication of our new building June 2011). I made it a goal some years back that our ECA community would fully integrate together for such an event believing this to be necessary for the health and well-being of this community. Relationships are best strengthened when there's time for worship, reflection and fun together. I hope this year set a precedent for the future (others will make that decision).
- A major deal is being struck between the leadership of our organization and one of the more influential churches in town - a relationship we're hoping will pay huge dividends in our mission mobilization efforts. This emerging relationship could well mean new and significant opportunities for us as our team moves forward. You can get more info here for prayer or here with special authorization (email me for an authorization code).
- Finally, we're happy to report our legal status as Colombian residents has been renewed once again juxtaposed that of our son's victorious next step in the process of American citizenship. He now has his Green Card! Yea! Errands of these sorts require inordinate amounts of time while the euphoric sensation of accomplishment seems so short-lived.
