2016 may well be a watershed year for many reasons. Of course the hub-bub across the world is the political boxing matches of the USA that are certainly unprecedented and quite intriguing to say the least, but we won't go there right now (I will say here however that we pray our many friends are not too overly distracted by the kingdoms of the world, but rather centered on God's eternal Kingdom).
What is less well known was the January global consultation of Islamic clerics from across the world that met in Marrakesh, Morocco responding to the call of Sheikh Abdullah Bin Bayyah, a Mauritanian professor (you may remember we led a Colombian team to Mauritania many years ago) of Islamics at the King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. There may not be a more qualified Islamic cleric on earth to make such a call and for that reason hundreds responded. The importance of the discourse is without equal, entitled "The Rights of Religious Minorities in Predominantly Muslim Majority Communities." Click here for the full document.
Rather than spend more time here bloviating as one who could have only wished some measure of participation, I share a blog for further reflection from my friend Rick Love who was privileged to attend...http://ricklove.net/?p=3301
Let me say we are living in epoch-making times... unmatched, unrivaled and without parallel. Are you and I doing all we can, in all our strength and with every resource we might garner to partner with God and His Kingdom-building purposes around the world? This can happen in the kitchen, at the office, in the classroom or among the harvest fields. There is no place nor activity beyond reach of God's holy presence, too mundane as not to be sacred in the economy of life.
I conclude by sharing with you our family passage of Scripture for this year 2016:

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.
