Spring 2019
on... Finishing Touches to a Special Furlough
We see the months we have had in the States as having been profitable on many accounts… a clearer picture for our ministry future, the blessing from God at having been allowed to address various family challenges not only within our own immediate family but also both our extended families, the joy of knowing we are loved and supported by those who genuinely love and support us and finally the assurance of knowing we are now better positioned to offer what we see as important partnership for those seeking our services as we continue to learn together at how to advance God’s Kingdom to the Unengaged and Unreached Peoples of the world. These discoveries and surprises have opened doors to accept invitations not only throughout Central and South America, but also among other global fields where Latin American/Hispanic cross-cultural church-planting workers are desired. Throughout the rest of this Spring we anticipate winding around the Northwest and Central States on our way to Houston, TX where we anticipate flying out for the Middle East en route to Colombia, then Uruguay and finally Mexico that will finish out 2019 paving the way for invitations well into 2020 (we will tell of these at a later date). We offer here a brief summary of our present commitments along with a couple of bullet points for prayer consideration:
  • Crescent City, CA: new partnership-development
  • Portland, OR area: preaching, teaching and new partnership-development
  • Seattle, WA area: new partnership-development until April 22.
  • Boise, ID area: new partnership-development until May 7.
  • Utah, Colorado and Texas: travel to Houston with occasional partnership-visit stops arriving mid-to-late May 21.
  • Houston, TX: new partnership-development until June 3.
  • Middle East Project: from June 3 to 26 we will be privileged to make various stops in the ME to minister to Latin American workers working there as well as to receive important training at MEC 2019 (one meeting in particular will be to join a pastoral team offering 30+ Latin American workers much needed Member Care. This is a recent development derived from Iniciativa 21 [clic here to learn more]. Another stop will be to visit a ministry of various ME leaders interested to receive Latin Americans specifically for work among the Unengaged of the MENA region.
  • Houston, TX: return to Houston for new partnership-development until July 8.
  • Bogotá & Medellín, Colombia: from July 8 through mid-September we visit Colombian mentorees, sell our home, teach “Theology of Mission” and various mission-mission-related classes at the UNISBC seminary, Medellín, Colombia (http://www.unisbc.edu.co), teach in the Ministerial Institute of Medellín and finally deepen relationships already made with sending churches and denominations between both cities.
  • Montevideo, Uruguay: mid-September through November we teach the seminary course “Service on Multicultural Teams” at the Seminario Bíblico del Uruguay (https://seminariobiblico.com) as we develop relationships with local churches already deploying workers to Unreached Muslims and encourage mentorees in process to the fields.
  • San Luís Potosi, Mexico: training during the annual mission conference early December
Year 2020 will start with yet another seminary course entitled “Leadership and Spiritual Authority in Other Cultures” that will be offered at the ESEPA seminary in San José, Costa Rica (http://esepa.org) in association with the FEDEMEC (https://fedemec.net) mobilization ministry. Every one of these opportunities are potentially longer-term ministries and we will therefore incline our ear to discern the voice of God with each occasion assessing potential fruitfulness toward our Target 6/18/54 [clic here to learn more about Target 6 /18/ 54].
